Sunshine Coast Equine Veterinary Clinic, the Sunshine Coast’s only equine surgical facility, is looking for a talented and personable equine vet to join our friendly team.

We currently have a team of two veterinarians, a regular visiting equine surgeon and five vet nurses, and due to unprecedented demand for our services we are now expanding our team.

About Us

Sunshine Coast Equine Veterinary Clinic is a well established practice that has been operating for over 25 years from a custom built clinic located adjacent to the Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

The practice has a busy and varied busy caseload, both medical and surgical. At our disposal is the latest diagnostics and treatments including digital WIFI radiography, video endoscopes, dynamic endoscope, portable ultrasound unit with colour Doppler, power dental equipment, in-house laboratory and PRP, in addition to our state of the art surgical facility.

Many of our clients have been with us since we started the practice and covers all disciplines including racetrack work, dressage, performance, endurance and pleasure horses.

We can promise the successful candidate an exciting, interesting role where no two days are ever the same and where your continued learning and development will be encouraged and supported.

We will actively support and financially assist your continued professional development in a particular area of interest as well as any study for membership or specialist qualififcations. And if you are a great fit for the practice there may also be partnership opportunities down the track if this is of interest.

The practice is located at Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, and the area offers a great lifestyle and is well serviced with shops, schools, nightlife, medical facilities and all other amenities.

About You

While you will ideally have some equine experience, if you are capable and eager to learn, we will consider a new or recent graduate who demonstrates an interest in equine performance practice.

You will have a love of horses with an interest in either surgery, racetrack practice, diagnostics or sports medicine.

You will also be self-motivated and capable of working independently yet still be a team player as we are a tight knit team that works together to get the job done. We also think work should be enjoyable so a sense of humour will be a bonus!

We have a strong culture of, and commitment to, continued learning and development and as such mentoring and support will be provided, along with back-up from experienced vets to help you develop your skills.

It goes without saying that you will be a good communicator and are committed to building a strong rapport with our clientele, colleagues and team.

Applicants must have the following:

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) or an equivalent degree recognised in Australia
  • Experience in equine practice, or a desire to work in this area
  • Ability to work with fellow team members and build a good working relationship with clients
  • Good work ethic, enthusiastic and common-sense approach to cases
  • A desire to grow within the role and develop your career
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
